Abstract

Again is a poem about trying to rebuild oneself after deep emotional pain. It describes a person whose soul has been shattered, who has walked through flames, and who is now trying to piece their heart back together. Through powerful imagery of fire, brokenness, and healing, the poem explores resilience, survival, and the difficult process of becoming whole again.

Unbeknownst to the on-looking eye,

I am trapped inside myself,

Picking up shards of my shattered soul,

that will no longer be pieced together.

So often I stand within unbearable fire,

Knowing I will get burned

My wounds smart in the flames.

Now I must put together,

the charred and puzzled remains

Of my heart.

of me

Again.
