About Me

I am a teacher, a reader, a mother, and a lifelong learner. I am passionate about stories, education, and building relationships through clear communication and connection. Family the heart of who I am and has molded my belief in patience, resilience, kindness, and happiness. I am inspired by the people I love most, shaping my outlook on my personal life and my professional work.

As a teacher, I am passionate about creating a classroom where students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow. My job in special education, including English, reading, transition, and applied skills, has shaped my belief that education should be accessible and purposeful, preparing students for success in the classroom and beyond.  I work to help students build literacy skills, confidence, independence, self-advocacy, and practical life skills that will support them and build toward their futures. Whether teaching reading strategies, writing, executive functioning, career readiness, or academic development, I see teaching as an opportunity to help students recognize their strengths and move toward lives of greater agency and prospects.

As a student, I am drawn to literature, history, and research that explores how texts reflect relationships and culture. My graduate work has expanded my skills as a writer, researcher, and critical thinker. I am especially interested in literary analysis, historical context, and the ways language can illustrate questions of identity, memory, and human experience. As a student, I value persistence, reflection, and curiosity, and I see learning as an ongoing process that shapes who I am both personally and professionally.

Outside of teaching and academics, I enjoy reading, writing, gardening, camping, boating, traveling, and exploring historic places. I feel especially at home in nature and value the peace, beauty, and perspective it offers. Whether spending time outdoors, taking road trips, visiting places rich in history, or discovering new landscapes, I am drawn to experiences that combine adventure, reflection, and connection. I also enjoy creating meaningful spaces and am inspired by literature, historic settings, and the stories places hold.
